Just wondering if you have heared about this institute called reed. Its located in clifton. They do testing for dexlysis. Do let me know if you have any knowledge about it. Thank you!
Nice to hear from you. Well, its been a long and hard trial and error learning experience. Its not easy to explain how i manged to get through my studies, but I will try... Getting through the BA part was not at all easy. I think it has somethig to do with the picture memory that I have, Firstly I always attended my classes regularly. Never bunked even a single class. Secondly, I paid full attention during the lecture. because that is the only way for me to remember and understand things. my attention span is very little so I came up with my own method and that was to write what ever I heard without paying any attention to what actually was being said. Thirdly, I really pushed myself into participating in class all the time. Asked all sorts of questions, and one thing that I developed is that I started to associate my daily life examples with the topic. and made my own notes in my own particular way, ie. by drawing diagrams, (as I am good with drawing) or make up a story, I was lucky to have a bunch of good friends, We used to study together and what ever I didnt understand, they helped me out with it. They did find my way of taking notes very amuzing but in the end it became even easier for them to remember things. I used to get stuck with topics where i couldnt find anything to associate with. They good thing about my teachers were that they never marked us on spellings and grammer. SO I used to write in what ever ways i could. Dealing with maths related subjects such as finance, accounts etc, was not easy. I barely manged to pass. I still dont know how to take out percentage.etc I get totally confused in solving math related problems, even the most simple ones. just before giving the paper I used to look at the solved problems and somehow they use to stay in my memory for sometime. and another way I managed to come up with was to slove the question backwards, The first thing i used to do was to read the question and pinpoint from which chapter it is from. than write down the steps that were involved in solving the question, Than, like I said due to my picture memory I used to solve the question. But the trouble was that most of the time questions were not in the exact manner as they are in the book, so as long as i managed to retrieve what ever information I could, I managed to solve the question. and I never studied the entire course. Only studied that much that could make me get through. I remember I have never solved the entire question paper. hahaha!!! well, I guess everyone comes up with their own method of studying, at different time I have tried to apply different methods, sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. Subjects like mamagement, marketing, HR, psychology were my strong subjects up to such an extent that i always used to get A or A- or B+ in them, but subjects like, accounts, finances, maths, economics etc I got like C- or D. once I graduated I completely forgot what I had studied, its like clean slate for me. There is nothing that I can say i remember!!! I am glad that I manage to get another chance to go back to college and do what I am good at and that is ARTS!!! creating things comes natural to me, although again it has not been easy going through arts college. I had to come up with new unique ways to get through. One comment that a friend of mine made about me was " i have this uncanny ability of doing the simplest of the tasks in the most difficult manner and in the most unique ways that no one else can ever think of ".
I guess, what ever I have written might make sense to you. Do get back and keep in touch. Thanks for your reply. May I know where do you study???
Hello, I just accidentally landed on this network and good to see someone from my own country. and from the same city... it would be really good to get to know you through this network and share the problems that I have faced and am still facing and have manged to get over them, not completely but somewhat...Have a good day and looking forward to hearing from you soon.
I try, and initially it used to work, but I get this feeling it's getting worse with time. It's like my short-term memory getting worse by the day, and I can't focus. Do you know any exercise that'd help me focus? this seems like by biggest problem, no matter how hard I try! I just cannot pay attention to a maths/accounting/finance topic for more than a few minutes :-(
Just copying this from Georges wall Hi! I'm 21 and pursuing a BBA degree as well. I just cannot do any math, accounting or finance related subject, which are mandatory. I don't know what to do! I feel so helpless, I keep failing them. Might seem a silly question but have you tried teaching yourself. I ended up doing that because the ways they was teaching it at uni was just all wrong for me. I found getting lots of worked examples and lots of repetition worked eventually. And because I had found my own way of solving the problems I could remember them because it was alot more logical. In maths there is often more than one way of doing something and you need to find what works for you. The hardest thing for me is remembering what steps and what order to do then in. That is were the repetition comes in.
yes I feel the same way to. When its test time when there and SA that's when I feel like that . Know I know my weakness know that I study more and try to but my writting to use. Try it in your math . Deyslexia people need to train there brain alot I thank so. We all need to work 2 time at hard in getting a BBA.
