Dyslexics of the world unite

Ok everyone in SDSNDland. Life is quiet here in Yorkshire later so there has been nothing to report. Nothing except that I have been having some fun with the Dr K-whatsits brain and site training games that we got last weekend. I have actually discovered something pretty interesting. That is that as the week goes on my brain and eye age get higher. Now that wouldn't be quite so worrying if the change wasn't so dramatic. And it wouldn't be so worrying if my job allowed me to be crap towards the end of the week. I think I need to do some headscratching and try to figure out what I can do about it. Suggestions on a postcard please :o)

Yes you ed psych evaluation. Access to Work hmmmm they basically come to where you work. They evaluate what you do and your job description and then look at possible ways to enable you to overcome your dyslexia issues in the work place. For example you may have an issue with reading documents at work. One possible solution would be to provide you with a text to speech software package on your computer.

Yes I understand your problem with telling your boss. I once had a student who said it was easier to come out and say he was gay than come out and tell people he was dyslexic.

There is no easy answer to that question I am afraid. Speaking for myself I always let employers know I am dyslexic and in general I get positive responses. I like being dyslexic its a part of me. Ok it makes somethings harder to do but it also brings benefits. Like I said many dyslexics make great entrepreneurs, many make great engineers or artists.

Do you mean the ed psych evaluation. That must be a few years old now. I have no idea what an access to work inventor is. I'm still trying to pluck up the courage to tell my manager that I even have dyslexia. Eek :o(

another PS If you have a dyslexia report have to had an Access to Work inventory done? If you have a dyslexia report talk to your employer about Access to Work or contact your local Job Center and ask to speak to the DEA about Access to Work. Don't worry it ain't as scary as it sounds and it may provide you will the tools that will make your job easier and it is cost free your you to.

Start taking Omega 3 suppliments. They are good for the brain, but make sure you get a reputable make. The other thing to do is find a good way to relax yourself. As the week goes on your brain and you get more and more stressed and tired. Both of which will affect the way in which your dyslexia affects you. You will tend to make more dyslexia related errors. Find some relaxation stratagies that will work for you. You also need to look at some stratagies that will enable you to work dyslexia smarter at work.

One book, which is pretty cheap compared to other books on dyslexia is," Making Dyslexia Work for You". I didn't write it by the way lol. It costs £12.98 from The Dyslexia Shop tel: 0131 672 1552.

My advice order a catalogue and do your research on any product you decide may be usefull.
